First things first- what exactly is a blog?

The term is actually weblogs coined by Jorn Barger in 1997. The weblogs actually got popular in 1999 when several developers made easy blogging software and tools. Since then the blog has attained a distinctive position in the virtual world. The number of blogs on the Internet has exploded from a few thousand to a few millions and soon will be in zillions

Why the popularity- well one reason is through blogging software’s, blogs are easy to create, you simply write, link to resources, and publish to your blog, it’s as easy as rubbing the genies lamp. The results however are better than any genies wish granting powers.

Secondly blogs are cheap and effective in conveying your message to a target group. They are great for delivering information quickly and precisely.

There are basically two types of distinct types of blogs -----------

Personal blogs - they are like an open diary, in which you can write about just anything from your holiday adventures to your nagging in-laws.

Business blogs – is a tool for interacting with customers or employees to share knowledge and expertise.
