A Few Magazine Publishing Terms

Description:

The business of writing for magazines is often speculative in nature.

Content:

The business of writing for magazines is often speculative in nature. It can often seem fruitless to conduct research on available paying magazines, attempt to understand their style and unique requirements, write the article, send the article, and then wait for what can seem a never ending response.

It can be even more daunting when you have invested significant time and energy and have received multiple rejection slips. It can cause an author to wonder if they should hang it up and head back to the ‘real world'.

One of the reasons writers are a breed apart is that the thrill of the creation is often on par with the actual acceptance. Many writers write because they simply have no choice; there is some inborn urge to create with words. A rejection is simply a sign that you are getting closer to finding the right publisher.

If you have reviewed submission guidelines for publications to any great degree you will see two separate payment methods listed.

On Acceptance

When you see the term "On Acceptance" this is an indication that if the editor likes your work and ultimately accepts it for publication they will pay you at the time they accept the article even if the article shows up several months later.

On Publication

When "On Publication" is included in the submission guidelines it is an indicator that if the editor accepts your article for publication they will withhold payment until the article is actually published.

Kill Fee

If you have been commissioned by a magazine to write an article and you have, in good faith, supplied the article, they may provide you with a certain amount of money should they decide not to use the article you supplied. This may also apply to freelance work that was submitted and accepted, but ultimately not used. Other similar terms include, rejection fee and cancellation fee. These fees are generally a percentage of the original payment price.

Publishers can exercise this option for a variety of reasons including a lack of space and a choice to move in a different direction.

Status Transition

In many cases you will find publications you enjoy working with and may move from a freelance status to someone who is called upon to provide regular content. Often this scenario provides higher pay and a steady supply of writing assignments.

Trucking School- Tips for New Drivers

Description:

An overview of what to expect from a trucking school. A list of several options a prospective trucker has to pay for trucking school, including some pros and cons for the various payment options and traps to watch out for.

Content:

Suzanne At Coops

I’ve been driving an 18-wheeler for 11 years. People always ask “is it hard to drive that thing.” The answer is: yes and no. Once you’re used to driving an 18-wheeler, it’s not hard. But it takes a lot of practice, patience, and paying attention to get good. You know a guy has been trucking a long time when he can blind side it into a hole between two trucks without having to pull up once. For the rest of us, it’s a good idea to have an extra set of eyes watching from outside the truck, go slow, and not worry about looking dumb when you need to make a correction.

Trucking schools teach you the basics. They teach you what you need to know to pass the test in your state. They teach you how to answer the questions the right way and how to turn the wheel to put the trailer where the examiner wants it to go.

They do NOT teach you trucking. I’d call trucking school “Intro to Trucking, 101,” if you will. Don’t get me wrong–trucking school provides you with a good base of knowledge about trucking. You can learn the physics behind a jack knife and some basic tips to avoid trucking accidents. You can learn the basics of maneuvering. You can learn the rules and regulations of the trucking world. The more you know when you leave trucking school, the better equipped you are to handle the realities you will encounter on the road.

I don’t know of any reputable companies that don’t require trucking school. Some companies provide their own trucking school and teach you for free so long as you drive for them for a certain period of time- usually 6 months to a year.

When I went to trucking school, there were 4 ways to pay.

1. Pay cash up front.

2. Get a loan, pay the trucking school up front and pay the loan back to the loaner (whether it’s a bank or a relative).

3. Take a loan from the trucking school and pay them back with a lot of interest.

4. Government funding through unemployment or military programs.

If you opt to take a loan from the trucking school, be aware of the interest they are charging. Also, read the contract on the loan carefully. Some loans penalize you for paying them off early and some require that you pay all the interest whether you pay it off early or not.

If you opt to work for a company that provides the training in return for your commitment to drive for them, be aware of what the going rates are for new drivers. Say that trucking school costs $3,500 and the going rate for a solo driver is 30 cents per mile (cpm). If you opt to go through a company’s trucking school and they want you to drive for them for a year at 20 cpm, that’s a 10 cent difference. In a year’s time, if you drive 100,000 miles, you have made $10,000 less than you would have working for 30 cpm. You need to decide if the original investment in trucking school is worth the loss of income you may face.

However you pay for it, trucking school is a necessity in most cases. It is the gateway to a good paying job.

Do's And Don'ts Of Career Change

Description:

Changing Careers? Avoid costly mistakes by following this comprehensive guide to career change dos and donts!

Content:

A career change can be riddled with mistakes and ambiguity for many people, even those in mid-career. This, as a consequence, relegates them to where they are despite additions to their job and personal skill sets and the larger market scenario. This small but indicative list of career changes Dos and Don'ts will help to make things clearer.

Career Change Don'ts

-Never come out any job before you have another one. Don't quit a job on impulse, only when you have a solid plan. Leaving a job too early will have obvious negative effects. You could easily find yourself without a job with no leads in sight.
-A career change cannot be spontaneous but must be the result of a well-planned and well thought out decision. Do not plan to change your career in just minutes.
-Don't change your career just for the sake of big/instant money or glamour; rather, give some real thought as to whether you are really interested in switching to another career. Sure, the new career might seem great at first, but will you still enjoy it after several years?
-Don't have unrealistic expectations from the career that you are going to choose.
-Don't pay attention to rumors or gossip or even react to them during your job change process.
-Don't spread the word about your leaving the job until it is confirmed in writing.
-Don't leave your 'safe' job until you know where and how you will be compensated.
-Don't leave the job for until you have ensured that you will not have to pay your monthly bills from your savings
-Don't ever spread misinformation about your past employer

The Dos of Career Change

-While still in your current job, you can gather information or rather work part-time for the career you have chosen. It will give you some idea of the scope and nature of your target job.
-While still in your present career, learn as much as you can and plan to take that knowledge with you.
-List your strengths and qualities in fields you that you already excel. Identify your need for a career change.
-If it is sheer frustration or stress and all other aspects are fine in your present job, then target these two problems rather going for a career change.
-Maintain a positive relationship with your present organization and leave the job on a positive note.
-As soon as you join your new employer, get down to business without wasting time; you will have lot to learn in a new environment.

Could This Be The Key To Your Success?

Description:

What do the world's most successful people know that you don't? This article explores the secret to success that has worked for tycoons such as Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford and John D. Rockefeller.

Content:

"Success is a state of mind. If you want success, start thinking of yourself as a success." - Dr. Joyce Brothers

Have you ever noticed that some people seem to attract success like a magnet? While others can't catch a break no matter how hard they seem to try?

Few places is this more prevalent than in the online business world. With more than 97% of all business owners never making a dime from their ventures, it seems that lady luck is calling the shots. But maybe there is more to it than random chance.

After all, success rarely happens by accident. It's actually our own failure that many of us plan.

Those who succeed at anything in life - in particular business - know what they want to achieve, visualize themselves achieving it and then make it a reality. They have a success mindset that goes beyond just the idea of wanting something; it becomes a part of who they are until they have no choice but to make it a reality.

In the early 20th century, multimillionaire Andrew Carnegie hired Napoleon Hill to study the world's most successful people. Hill spent 20 years interviewing, learning from, and understanding more than 500 of the most successful people to ever live. Among them were the super wealthy Henry Ford, John D. Rockefeller and Thomas Edison.

Using his research, Hill published Think and Grow Rich in 1937. Today it is still one of the most read books of it's kind. It has stood the test of time because his principles for success can be applied by anyone at any time. In fact, many of his ideas have since been substantiated through scientific studies. One of which is the idea that people possess the power to think their way to success.

Key in Hill's research was the discovery that successful people think differently. They have adopted a set of beliefs that enable them to be successful.

Research now shows what the world's most successful people have always known. If you want to succeed you have to believe you will succeed. Believe that failure is not an option and it won't be.

So, how can you develop your own success mindset?

The best place to start is to stop listening to the little voice in your head that says, "No you can't". Instead believe that you can do anything you put your mind to. Visualize yourself already having the thing you most desire and live your life as though it's inevitable that you'll eventually get there.

"Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe it can achieve."- Napoleon Hill

Use this powerful technique in your own life and you're sure to be rewarded personally and professionally. Get started today and you'll be amazed how quickly your "luck" changes!

Making Money with Articles: Niche Websites!

Description:

Choosing a good niche subject to base your website around is one of the most important aspects of making money off of your articles. This will give you a foundation to build from and you can target one general audience with a pack of keywords that they are most likely to be searching for.

Content:

Choosing a good niche subject to base your website around is one of the most important aspects of making money off of your articles. This will give you a foundation to build from and you can target one general audience with a pack of keywords that they are most likely to be searching for. You should take each one of these keywords and use it for the basis of one article on each page. This way, even though you are targeting one specific subject, you will be sure to interest a wide variety of people in that one niche. They may also find other pages that interest them, which will keep them returning to your site to learn new information about the niche subject.

The best way to find keywords for your niche subject is to use a keyword software program and type in the word that is the subject of your niche. This will generate a list of keywords or phrases that contain your niche and will also show you approximately how many people search for each word or phrase. Some software programs may also tell you how many sites are out there to compete with for each word or phrase (this will help you know if those sites are worth competing with for the number of searches out there). You then deicide which of these would be most profitable by determining which have the least amount of competitors, so that you have a chance at making it to the first or second page of search engine results, but that also have a decent amount of people looking for that keyword or phrase each month. These will be the keywords or phrases that you will base the pages of your niche site on.

If there are a number of topics that you like, pick the one that you feel would be easiest to start with and then, once that site is built and generating some revenue, you can start another site. The most profitable website marketers, who use their talent of finding niches and combining that with good site content and a handful of affiliate links, have a good amount and variety of niche sites that they have started. You are never limited in what you can do with niche website marketing, unless you find out that you do not have the marketing skills or the needed funding to make it happen. Otherwise, the sky is the limit!

Fulfilling Your Dreams by Changing Careers
or How I went from drama teacher to Invention Marketing “Guru”
By Joan Lefkowitz, of ACCESSORY BRAINSTORMS, Inc. New York© Joan Lefkowitz

Armed with a masters degree in drama and three years teaching experience, I moved from New York to the New Jersey suburbs with my husband in 1970. To my surprise, unlike the NYC high schools, the Jersey schools did not have drama departments. I found myself unemployed, teaching only part time at a University.

To keep myself entertained I learned to navigate the Jersey highways to get to every mall store that carried fashion accessories. I would evaluate each item I saw, asking myself “What is the right price for this product, are the materials and colors as attractive as possible?” and redesign it in my head to make it more appealing. This “back seat” merchandising hobby continued after I gave birth to my daughter Aviya, who enjoyed this activity in her stroller.

One day at the mall I picked up a copy of The Bergen Record and noticed an ad in the classified section that intrigued me, “Looking for people to bring new and exciting products to the market.” In my academic circles “Business” was a dirty word, so I didn’t follow up on that ad. However, from that day forward and still today, I believe that statement is my mission. The best I can be for myself and others is to make new, exciting, useful and attractive products available to people for enjoyment in their everyday lives.

In 1976 when we moved to Manhattan I decided to give up teaching and go for it! I started representing designers of costume jewelry and hair accessories, taking their samples to stores that might like them. My first customers were Henri Bendel and Bloomingdales but I was clueless when they asked me what my “Terms” were. I went back to school at night and took a lot of business courses while also doing training programs with American Women’s Economic Development; and met other new women business owners to commiserate with.

Accessory Resource Gallery grew in the eighties and I opened a showroom, hired a staff, added scarf, hat, belt lines and other goodies to the product mix. People could not buy enough accessories in the eighties. Then in 1990 the recession finally hit the industry. Retailers were going out of business in droves. To keep our designers’ spirits up in those bad times we recommended that they add unique and amusing items to their product lines. We conducted “brainstorming” sessions and came up with a jeweled watergun necklace for one of the lines. The trade publications loved it and we started to become known for unusual items.

Then in 1991 a gal from Dallas came to New York looking for a salesrepresentative for her new patented hair accessory, Topsy Tail, that turned a ponytail inside out to make a beautiful hairstyle. We went crazy for this unique little invention and predicted that the rest of the world would agree. In a very short time we sold millions of dollars of Topsy Tail to retailers.

Word spread about our “inventions marketing” and inventions were turning up at our doorstep. Soon we were handling such wonderfully original products as Hairdini, Earz Earpockets, Polaroller rolling icepack, and Franties fragranced panties. Womens Wear Daily named us the “Guru of Novelty Marketing.” We were finding that marketing inventions was taking up much of our time and it was a different process from marketing accessories. We created a new division of the company called “ACCESSORY BRAINSTORMS” to handle patented inventions adding beauty, comfort and lifestyle products to our categories. In 1994 we incorporated ‘ACCESSORY BRAINSTORMS, INC.’ as a separate company. Recently, Accessories Magazine honored us as “Most Inventive Company.”

During the company’s invention expansion I had to go back to school yet again to learn about patents and legalities, out of responsibility to the many inventors who look to us for advice. Each day I think about the gift I have been given to be able to fulfill upon my mission. Lucky for me that New Jersey high schools didn’t have drama departments.

Work At Home Based Business Opportunity And Fishing

Description:

What is the relationship between fishing and search engine optimization? This article deal about an experience of fishing and work at home based business opportunity by using search engine optimization.

Content:

What is the relationship between fishing and search engine optimization? It does not have direct relation. But rule does not exist to relate a thing with another one. In the truth this relation appeared when I was to take my younger son and his friend to fish. They have 8 and 9 years old, respectively. And as well as I, they are learning to fish.

On the other hand, at a new work at home based business opportunity, I am learning to use search engine optimization. They are tools to attempt to gather all the pages that are in the Internet world and rank these according to the search phrase typed in by the user.

The point here is: when we catch the fish pole and we launch it in the lake, our goal and hope is to catch the biggest possible fish. Exactly that the fish tools are not adjusted.

My son and his friend after the first catch fish have began to talk that those fishes were so small and that lake did not use to have bigger fishes. In other words, they wanted to catch big fish. Of which size, I asked them, and they just sad big fish. Of course they do not image a necessarily size. They just wanted a bigger fish then those they star fishing.

At the first search engine optimization lessons I learned that take the big fish does not work for new Internet marketers. It is like to want to catch a big fish with a small hook. What does it mean?

A work at home small Internet business is a very competitive area of make money at Internet world. There are many gays with experience and much more time doing this. If we choose phrase as work from home, home based business the competition will be with no less than 1 million work at home Internet pages searching a month. And by this way the fish pole and the hook newbie are insufficient.

So what to do? Begin to catch small fish. It is what I told to my son and his friend. It is what must do the newbie at Internet marketing. When you choose less competitive phrase it does not mean you are not competitive. You just choose to be on the competition using another race ray.

If anybody is learning to fish I recommend small lakes and small fish as a beginning goal. As the same way, to anybody is beginning a work at home based business opportunity try to learn a little bit more about search engine optimization and choose phrase keywords less competitive to be better positional at Internet world.

The Unique Selling Proposition – What is It?

Description:

In order to successfully market itself, a business needs to focus on what is special, different or unique about it. This is best done by expressing the uniqueness in a short single statement.

Content:

Bob Pearce

I. A Unique Selling Proposition focuses

In developing a USP a business owner is forced to carefully look at his business to see those things which differentiate the business from another one. If you cannot concisely describe what is unique about your business, it brings in to doubt its potential success. It also focuses your staff on delivering what the USP promises to customers.

II. A Unique Selling Proposition identifies

It identifies to your customers and potential customers what is so different about your product or service that is different from your competitors. It answers the question, “Why should I do business with you instead of your competitors?”

III. How to construct a USP

There are a number of questions to ask about your business to help construct a USP:
In looking at your business, what is so unique that differentiates it from your direct competitors? List these and decide which to concentrate on.
Which of these items provide the most benefits (not features) to your customers?
Which are not able to be copied by your competitors easily or at all?
How easily can these be communicated and understood by your customers or potential customers?

IV. How to use your USP

The usual ways of communicating your USP are promotion programs such as direct mailing, media advertising, on packaging and through sales or agency staff.

V. How successful is it

The simplest test of your USP is how well known it becomes and how well it sells for you! If you are carrying out customer surveys or questionnaires, this item can be covered.

Top Five Tips Small Business Owners Can Learn From J. K. Rowling

Description:

J.K. Rowling's rise to fame and fortune is inspiring. Though her fortune is estimated at $1 billion, and she is ranked as the 136th richest person in the world, in 1990, when all this got started, things were very different. She was unpublished. She did not have much money. She was living in London, working as a researcher and bi-lingual secretary, and her mother had just died. How she got from there to where she is today is a story filled with invaluable tips for small business owners.

Content:

J. K. Rowling is the English writer who has authored all seven beloved and widely read Harry Potter novels. At age 41, her rise to fame and fortune is inspiring. She has sold over 325 million books. The final book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was the fastest-selling book of all time.

Her fortune is estimated at $1 billion. She is ranked as the 136th richest person in the world. In 2006, Forbes named Rowling the second richest female entertainer in the world and ranked her as 48th on the 100 most powerful celebrities list of 2007.

When this all began in 1990, however, things were very different for J. K. Rowling. She was not a published author. She did not have a lot of money. She was living in London, working as a researcher and bi-lingual secretary for Amnesty International, and her mother had just died. How she got from there to where she is today is a story filled with invaluable tips for small business owners.

Tip # 1: Don’t Rush to Roll Out Your Product.

"Destiny is a name often given in retrospect to choices that had dramatic consequences."
- Rowling

Although J. K. Rowling had been a writer all her life, she was slow to publish. “I had written two novels before I had the idea for Harry, though I'd never tried to get them published (and a good job too, I don't think they were very good).”

All too often, as small business owners, we rush to get a product out before its time, before it’s been fully considered or tested. Rowling sets a great example of getting a product just right before presenting it to the world.

Tip # 2: When a Great Idea Grabs You -- Grab Back.

"You sort of start thinking anything's possible if you've got enough nerve."
- Rowling

Great ideas are unmistakably powerful in their announcement and come when least expected. Rowling says:

"Where the idea for Harry Potter actually came from, I really couldn't tell you. I was traveling on a train between Manchester and London and it just popped into my head. I spent four hours thinking about what Hogwarts would be like. By the time I got off at King's Cross, many of the characters in the books had already been invented."

As small business owners, we know when a great idea is upon us. The problem is, we often question it, second-guess it, and rationalize it away. Not Rowling. She recognized the mark of a powerful idea, seized upon it and went with it.

Tip # 3: Persevere, Persevere, and Persevere.

"It is our choices . . . that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."
- Rowling

Rowling moved to Portugal to teach English as a Second Language in 1991 and married her first husband in 1992. They divorced in 1993. The next year, she moved to Scotland. At this point, she was an unemployed single mother living on welfare. In 1995, she completed her manuscript for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, typing it out on an old manual typewriter. She handed in the book to twelve publishing houses. They all rejected it.

Rowling never gave up. She did not stop just because life was hard. Despite all the changes and setbacks she was experiencing, she carried on. She persevered. As small business owners, we would do well to keep her example in mind.

Tip # 4: Don’t Let Anyone, Including Yourself, Sidetrack You from Your Goal.

"If you're holding out for universal popularity, I'm afraid you will be in this cabin for a very long time."
- Rowling

Finally, Bloomsbury, a small publisher, agreed to publish the first book. Her editor, though, says that he “advised Rowling to get a day job, since she had little chance of making money in children’s books.”

It’s a good thing she didn’t listen. All seven volumes of the Harry Potter series have broken sales records and have been translated into 65 languages. What a shining role model Rowling is for small business owners. She didn’t let anyone stand in the way of her goal—not even herself.

Tip # 5: Each of Us Has a Unique Contribution to Make to the World.

"I just write what I wanted to write. I write what amuses me. It's totally for myself."
- Rowling

J. K. Rowling never went searching for the kind of success she’s received. “I just wrote the sort of thing I liked reading when I was younger (and still enjoy now!). I didn't expect lots of people to like them, in fact, I never really thought much past getting them published.”

It wasn’t fame or wealth that J. K. Rowling sought. No. She simply wanted to contribute to the world in general, and to children specifically. As small business owners, this is so important to learn. Focus on the unique something we have to offer to the world. The rest will surely come, in ways we may not even be able to imagine.

How to Get Your Customer Talking

Description:

You approach a prospective customer, it can be a challenge to get the customers attention, let alone getting them to strike up a conversation with you. Most people don't.

How to Get Your Customer Talking

Before we can sell our products to our prospective customers, we must first get to know them and their needs. The best way to do this is to get them talking.

When you approach a prospective customer, it can be a challenge to get the customers attention, let alone getting them to strike up a conversation with you.

Most people don't want to be bothered, their perception of a sales person is that of a used car sales man or the Macy's girl who approaches you in the aisle and wants to squirt perfume all over you.

Another reason people don't want to be bothered, is because they believe they will end up wasting their money on something they don't even need.

If you can get them talking, you can figure out what it is they do need, and than explain the products you have that could possibly satisfy their needs.

Getting someone to talk to you is not as hard as you may think.

People love to talk about their job, their company, their family, and their pets.

Believe me, if you walk up to a customer and introduce yourself only to be blown off, say something along these lines;

I'm really sorry to bother you, but may I ask what it is you do for a living?

Ninety nine times out of one hundred, the person will tell you the company they work for, and what they do there.

Everybody is proud of what they do, and they should be. Once you have established what it is that your customer does for a living, get them to elaborate on it. Say things like;

"That's really interesting, how did you get into that line of work?"

Or

"How long have you been in that line of work?"

Now that you have your customer talking, start digging for more, find out what his needs are.

Most important, as your customer is speaking, listen intently, look for identifiers that can lead the conversation in other directions.

As you listen to your customers talk, try to match up your products to their needs.

Once you have the customer talking, don't be discouraged if you don't get the sale right than and there. Not all is lost, in fact, it is just beginning, you have just taken the first steps toward building a relationship with your customer.

Remember, people love to talk about themselves, their jobs, their pets, their hobbies, etc.

So ask, it will get you on your way to more relationships and sales.

How to Maximize CRM Return on Investment

Description:

Huge CRM benefits, promised by CRM vendors and CRM software integrators, often go unfulfilled leaving failed implementations, wasted dollars, and damaged careers in the wake. This guide, clearly written, points out the little know CRM pitfalls that can reach up and kill your CRM deployment and will suggest seven ways to avoid the CRM pitfalls and get the expected return on your investment.

Content:

CRM is the fastest growing category of enterprise applications with worldwide revenues expected to reach $67 billion in 2004 (Meta Group). By automating and integrating a host of customer-related processes, vendors of high end CRM suites promise enterprises the ability to increase revenues, streamline processes, and reduce costs. While high end CRM vendors brag about the virtues of their solutions they neglect to discuss less appealing characteristics:

Excessive license and implementation costs
Endless implementation timelines
Technologically complex deployment
Organizational upheaval
Poor adoption rates
Weak links in solution set
Elusive ROI

Any one of these factors would be enough to trigger second thoughts about investing in a million dollar CRM suite. Taken together they cry out for an alternative. Online sales management is a particularly strong one, offering many benefits of CRM in a small fraction of the time and expense----and none of the chaos.

How to Achieve Results

Companies want increased revenue, streamlined processes, and reduced internal costs for real top-line and bottom line impact. But a big bang implementation of a full suite CRM suite is hardly the only way or even the best way to achieve these results.

Online sales management is holds many virtues for those seeking benefits of customer relationship management without putting their companies through a traumatic paradigm shift.

1. Low Cost

Online sales management is available at a small fraction of the cost of a full-fledged CRM project. Because the service is browser based, there is no software to install or maintain at the client site. Deployable in a matter of weeks, online sales management causes minimal disruption of work. Fully outsourced, the solution frees up IT staff with no need for support staff. At the same time, the solution provider’s ability to amortize costs across its entire customer base results in a cost-effective sales management solution.

Built to support commonly accepted sales methods, the solution can be simple and intuitive to use with minimal training time and expense. Total cost of ownership is limited to small subscription fees that are easily recouped many times over by real gains in sales productivity.

2. Saved Time

With none of the extensive planning, installation, customization, and training requirements of a high end CRM system, an online sales management solution can be up and running in as little as fifteen days. Rather than waiting until the end of the year for productivity to improve, the company sees higher revenues almost immediately. An online sales management customer can see more than a 15% increase in revenues that compounds in perpetuity.

3. Technologically straightforward deployment

Online sales management keeps it simple. Deployed as a stand alone solution, the system can begin to deliver ROI immediately, while allowing for an evolutionary phased-in integration process that minimizes risk and complexity. Rich interoperability standards such as XML, and a powerful strategy to create web services, enable on-line sales management to leverage the latest Internet trends and technologies for simple yet powerful integration with existing corporate systems- both best of breed and custom built.

4. Organizational simplicity

As a self contained sales department initiative, online sales management keeps the number of cooks in the kitchen to a minimum. The service can be designed to support existing sales resources and processed for a much smoother transition; coordination with other groups is streamlined by simple best practices guidelines.

5. Enthusiastic user adoption

Salespeople can be the toughest software customers around, reluctant to change the practices that have brought success in the past unless they can see immediate benefits in a new way of doing business. Online sales management is designed with salespeople in mind, giving them simple, intuitive functionality for automatic lead delivery and management, calendaring, channel communication, partner coordination, and other sales oriented functions that will improve their sales productivity from day one. By inviting rapid and enthusiastic adoption, online sales management ensures that companies get the results they are looking for.

6. A targeted, best-of-breed solution

Online sales management does one thing, and it does it well: improve sales productivity. The sales department is the first priority. At the same time simple integration based on open standards enables companies to link the solution to other applications to form a truly best-of-breed solution set.

7. Proven ROI

Calculating the return on an online sales management solution is simple. With organization costs minimized, the size of the investment is little more than the service fees-typically $20,000 for a 20- seat subscription. The payoff is simple to see. Giga Information Group reports that companies deploying SFA can expect, on average, a 15% increase in sales. For a $100,000,000 company that deploys an online sales management solution in 15 days, this amounts to approximately $14,000,000 in additional revenue the first year alone, for a return on investment ranging from 14500% to more than 30000%. Give the small costs and high returns involved the investment decision is easy.

Online sales management provides a fast, low-risk alternative that will have you counting your return on investment and a lot more business.

People who want to make a 6 figure income in the best MLM Network Marketing business opportunities will require to measure progress. What you can't measure, you can never know your progress. How else are you going to know when you have hit your desired outcomes?

You will learn in this article:
* What exactly is tracking?
* What can you measure within your MLM Network Marketing business opportunity?
* How to effectively track in your MLM Network Marketing business opportunity

::: What exactly is tracking? :::
Tracking is:
- Control mechanism
- Recording of an event
- Monitoring a process or the results of an action

As we can see there are many ways to define what tracking is and it all boils down to having a system in place to measure something for the purpose of improving on it. If you do not measure something then you can never know how you are performing on it.

Imagine a football game, basket ball game or any other sport without anyone keeping track of the scores! The game would be in total mayhem. No one would know who won and worst of all how would we know when the game has finished?

This goes same in your MLM Network Marketing business. If you don't keep track of the time and what you are doing during that period - how would you know how productive you are? You may have been sitting down and wasting time, but because you have not measured what you have been doing, then you won't know that you have been wasting time.

When you measure, you give yourself the ability to set a benchmark and be able to constantly improve on that to achieve success within your MLM Network Marketing business.

::: What can we measure within our MLM Network Marketing business? :::
There are many things we can measure in our MLM Network Marketing business, some of the things we can measure are:
- How we use our time (tracking time)
- Amount of prospects we have shown our business to in a week
- How productive we have been on a scale of 0-10
- Amount of income during a period of time
- What have we done today that is bringing our goals closer?
- What we learned today?

::: Performing tracking within your MLM Network Marketing business :::
To do lists are great, however in this millennium a new way of doing things is necessary. To be able to achieve success a to do list is a waste of time. It is very easy to get overwhelmed with a to do list. Take a look at what steps which you can take today that will bring your goal closer to you. Then choose 3 to 5 things you can do today.

Get a countdown timer or stop watch and measure your time and what you have done with that time every 30 minutes and keep a log. You may think that this is going to take a lot of your time, but what will actually happen is that you will gain much more time as you are racing with the clock. Remember the clock keeps ticking whether you are aware of it or not. Your time is the best thing you can measure. Money can be replaced, your time never can.

Go for it,

Unique Team Building Ideas

Description:

Team building is the act of bringing a group of employees together. Team building usually involves planned activities scheduled on a specific day or weekend.

Content:

Team building is the practice of working to bring a group of employees together. Usually activity days or even activity weekends are planned for these purposes.

The hard part is coming up with team activities that have not already been overused. In other words, activity days (or activity weekends) for groups of employees than involve more than just conference speeches, icebreakers, and dinner menus. New and different ideas are being introduced every single day into the corporate and business world. Some of the most interactive games are brought to UK employers by companies that sponsor events days such as “It’s a Knockout.” This type of event day is designed to help employees deal with stress in a humorous and healthy way. Additionally, employees are usually challenged in every way of their lives while attending this event day.

Some of the types of games that could be included during an “It’s a Knockout” day include “Schoolboy Holiday”, “Slippery Slope”, “Bomb the Castle”, and “Funnel Tunnels”. “Schoolboy Holiday” is a relay inflatable hurdle relay course and “Slippery Slope” is a team race down a foam-covered mountain. “The game “Funnel Tunnels” is a race through foam tubes to collect as many water ducks as possible. The “Bomb the Castle” event involves passing wet sponges down a human chain to be squeezed into a pan. The people making up the human chain during “Bomb the Castle” game play are required to stand on a pedestal.

The object of these games is generally the same-to be the quickest team done. The purpose of each of these games is to promote team work and a positive mental attitude. Playing these sports also provide a way for employees to have a healthy break from their regular work routine, which helps reduce on-the-job stress. The games described in this article are not the only games that could be played. Companies can look on websites and look through team building activity books to find other ideas for games that they can coordinate on an employer’s premises.

Additionally activities and events besides some of these unique games listed above include themed costume parties, treasure hunts (finding hidden treasure with the use of clues), and mystery solving cases. Sometimes trivia or quiz games may also be played on these activity days as well.A team building day or weekend can be planned very quickly by reserving a pre-arranged package online. Customer team building activity event conferences can also be planned for employee groups of nearly any size, tailored to any company budget.

Similar events and games as those mentioned in this article also may be scheduled to take place during employee social events as well. For instance, some of the games describe in this article could be ones set up during a holiday employee party or picnic.Along with team building activities, entertainment such as a D.J or live band could be scheduled for any employee celebration. For example, these types of entertainment are often included on the night of an employee award ceremony dinner.

Compromise - From Marriage to the Workplace

Description:

Compromise your way to success with advice from by Kirsty Dunphey one of Australia's most prominent young achievers and public speakers.

As a newlywed I've been asked so many questions lately relating to the wedding. I was asked a rather interesting and unique one recently though and it was "What is true love, how do you know when it's right?"

Not professing to be an expert on the topic I could only answer from the heart and say what came to mind... that was: "True love is that my husband gave me, for my wedding present, the box set of Sex and the City DVDs even though he despises the show." Perhaps if you asked him what true love was he may tell you that it's the fact that I only watch them when he's out of the house so as not to torment him!

It's a silly answer of course, but it does go towards shining some light on what I think makes most relationships work - whether they be personal, business or otherwise and that is compromise.

In real estate so many people think the deciding factor in selling or buying a property is what price you want to offer. In many cases however, extending or bringing forward settlement, including a fridge, repainting a fence may be what gets the deal across the line - but only if the agent is a skilled compromiser which means they're a skilled negotiator who can find the win-win for both clients.

As an employer I've had many discussions with people regarding pay structure, when I was an employee however if I wanted a pay rise I went to my boss with a well thought out plan. The plan showed him how a) he could save money by paying me more or b) how I could make the company more money to compensate for my pay rise. I searched for the win-win - I sold my position and I rarely walked out without the result I was after because I could show my boss how it benefited him.

"Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it."
Michael Jordan

How can you use compromise more to your advantage in day to day life? With your kids, if you know that next week you're not going to spend a lot of time at home because of work can you let them know in advance and make the compromise with them that if they can deal with that ok that you'll all go out to dinner - their choice of restaurant on Saturday night. Just a suggestion - I hope you have fun finding your own!
