Imagery - the Key to Unlocking your Performance Potential (part 2)

Description:

Human performance expert Jacques Dallaire, Ph.D., discusses imagery and its practical applications on the path to increased success and achievement.

[ This article is part 2 of 3. For part 1, see Performance File 09. ]

Rule #4 of the Mental Road states: “Your Dominant Thought Determines Your Emotions, the Behaviors that Result from Those Emotions and Ultimately, Your Performance.” (See Performance File #06.) But how does this happen?

Most experts in the world of Psychology agree on the basic premise that the human mind is characterized by two major divisions: the conscious mind and the subconscious or non-conscious mind. While they don’t all agree on the names to use when describing these two fundamental thought processes and some even look to subdivide the categories further, most would acknowledge that the subconscious mind is capable of more powerful and sophisticated thought processes than the conscious mind is capable of.

In its simplest terms, the conscious mind is the seat of reasoning or decision-making in the human species while the non-conscious mind is the reservoir for your emotions and is thought of as your ‘creative’ mind. Your conscious mind can be likened to the captain of a ship who directs, who makes decisions and gives orders that other crew members then execute. Your non-conscious mind is a reactive thought process that does not reason out as your conscious mind does but responds rather to the nature of the thoughts you hold in your conscious mind. In other words, the non-conscious mind takes its direction from the thoughts you choose to make dominant in your conscious mind. If you doubt that the non-conscious mind is more powerful that the conscious mind, consider this: you are not at this very moment consciously aware of or controlling the various processes in your body that are keeping you alive. Likewise, you are not consciously in control of these processes each moment of every day, even when you are sleeping! Heart function, circulation, cellular rebuilding, nervous system function, digestion, memory, motor control, muscle activity, the immune system, hormonal shifts, energy metabolism, etc. – all of these processes are being coordinated at this very moment by your non-conscious mind. If we had to consciously think through this coordination process, we probably would not be able to live very long and enjoy healthy lives… your conscious mind cannot operate your body but it can get in the way of its smooth operation.

As you try to understand the role of the conscious and the non-conscious mind as far performance is concerned, there are a couple of simple rules that you should keep in mind.
Two basic rules of the conscious mind:

1. The conscious mind looks at options and makes a decision based on that analysis.
2. Once the conscious mind makes a decision, all other options are thrown out for the moment. The conscious mind then interprets the information that it subsequently receives in a manner that supports that decision.

Two basic rules of the non-conscious mind:

1. The non-conscious mind always agrees with what the conscious mind tells it, whether it is based in reality or not.
2. The non-conscious mind moves in the direction that the conscious mind points it.

The fundamental truth is that we cannot directly control our subconscious mind…it has been programmed, over decades sometimes, by our life experiences and our beliefs and value systems. Our subconscious mind responds to the thoughts we process in our conscious mind and takes over as the architect of our emotions and reactions. If I commanded you right now to “be happy”, while you could certainly fake happiness, exhibiting the characteristics we associate with a happy person (smiling, laughing, etc.) to truly feel happiness, you would have to think ‘happy’ thoughts…thoughts that would gradually lead you to become happy. Likewise, if I commanded you to be “sad”, you wouldn’t truly feel the deep sorrow associated with sadness unless you first processed thoughts in your conscious mind that are saddening and as a consequence, you would gradually become sad. Again, consider the emotions you’ve experienced while watching different movies, some happy, some sad, some arousing, etc. By immersing yourself in the story and imagining yourself in the situation being projected, your mind and body responds much the same way as if you were truly there, experiencing the emotions that would be consistent with that situation.

The impact of these simple rules on performance is profound. At its core, the sub-conscious mind does not challenge the validity of the thoughts you process in your conscious mind. Whatever thought you make dominant in your conscious mind, your sub-conscious mind accepts it as true – whether it is in fact true or not. What that means is if you think you are a loser, your subconscious mind will simply say “loser... I can do that” and initiate the emotions and the behaviors that are consistent with losing. On the other hand, if you think of yourself as a winner, your subconscious mind says “winner, I can become that person” and the emotions and behaviors that result make it easier for you to become successful. If the thoughts are positive and productive, you are able to more easily focus on the task at hand and your performance is better but if they are negative and destructive, your performance will deteriorate as you violate the Rules of the Mental Road. We all know this to be true…how you think and feel influences how you perform.

What is Imagery?

First, let’s understand that imagery is not the same as visualization. Imagery involves the creation and use of all the senses (sight, sound, feel, taste, and smell) in the imagination to influence or change existing thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and behaviors. Visualization (or “seeing with the mind’s eye”) is a narrower concept since it only describes one part of imagery – the ‘seeing’ part.

Mental imagery for performance is not daydreaming about the great athlete, musician, or actor that you would like to be. Nor is it wishful thinking about how you would like to perform during a particular event. It is a learned skill that requires effort, quality practice, and focus to master. You can think of imagery as “mental holograms” that link your mind to all parts of your body involved in producing a particular performance. Imagery can be used to influence a particular set of performance skills or to influence emotions such as anxiety, and the behaviors that stem from those emotions.

Who of us has not imagined themselves to be the best in the world at some activity? When you go out and try to reproduce the mindset and behavior that is consistent with this image of success you create in your mind, you are mentally programming yourself to perform like a champion. We will discuss psychological and performance-based imagery further in the next Performance File installment.

What is Winning the Game of Business?

Description:

When I move ahead toward a business or personal goal I have clarity behind my actions. I understand my real purpose for taking these actions. I am in alignment with what matters most to me. The difference has been monumental.

Content:

Steve Kennedy

For years I thought success meant accomplishment in business, making lots of money, and earning prestige and status. And, if I did all of these things, I'd be rewarded by feeling great. I had a beautiful wife, two healthy, wonderful kids. We even had the dog and the white picket fence. All my life, I'd been taught that goals like these, when achieved, guaranteed good feelings. So I believed, worked very hard, and here's what I accomplished:

• A 5-million dollar company with 50 employees,

• Built my own dream house,

• Plenty of money,

• New cars in driveway,

• Elected town official,

• Flourishing retail business in my home town,

• Awards for public service

• Trophies for sports...and even more!

There is one goal missing from that list:

• Happiness

Did all these achievements supply me with happiness, with contentment? Many thought they would. I sure did, but was I wrong!

For two busy decades I pursued the above goals. I was all about attainment. I'd do just about anything if I thought it would help me attain and thus, feel good.

Remember: I had no idea - I was all about achievement - while I was working so hard to achieve.

I was completely missing the real point. I was painting the car and not checking the engine. The outside of the car,my life, looked great: Shiny, clean, impressive to the world. I thought maintaining that was the correct and proper goal. I didn't realize for the vehicle to operate properly, there were complex inner workings to be looked at, understood, and worked on. I had not lifted my own hood and looked inside at the engine within me.

I wasn't happy.

After every milestone was passed, and after that first flush of achievement faded, I noticed it was replaced by an inexplicable feeling of emptiness. I was baffled as to why I wasn't happy. I just didn't know what was missing.

Being an achiever, I set out to fix this situation. It was dawning on me that maybe I needed to lift the hood. So I read every personal development book and watched and/or took every program, seminar and workshop I could find. Still, the reason for my lack of happiness wasn't clear. A feeling of guilt haunted me or, I hounded myself for being ungrateful. I said to myself: Look at what you've got! You should feel happy? You ungrateful man!

This thinking, this self-punishment, only added to my gloom.

I spent the next five years working on what was going on inside my engine. It’s intricate: Inside oneself. I checked old wiring, and found out I was not ‘hard-wired’ to certain behaviors, after all. I examined ‘parts’—old beliefs, old ideas—and saw they needed work, or even replacement. As I moved deeper into the elaborate mechanism of that engine, of my Self, I began to see that I’d launched my life from the wrong premise. When the pistol was fired and the man in the game of life yelled: “Go!" I took off running, like most people, only seeing each goal as a hurdle to be overcome. I also wanted to be out ahead of the pack and often I was. I didn’t see there was an entirely different race being run, further away, not obvious and with few guideposts. Decades back, I hadn’t understood what my goal should have been. I hadn’t known what I really wanted. I just took off running. Few or no questions asked.

The premise I'd been unaware of wasn't what I thought I should want. It wasn't even more accomplishments to bring me more recognition. It also wasn't what would generate the most money…rather, it was:

What would make me happy?

I'd never even thought about that! I hadn't known such an idea could even be a goal.

I'd forgotten, or never understood that I had certain core values that were unique to me. When I wasn't honoring those values I was out of tune with what truly mattered to me, so I lived in conflict all the time. Inside I was being torn apart! Now I suddenly saw the engine under the hood: my first breakthrough! That led me to discover what was missing in my life.

It was: I'd lost touch with who I really was. I found out I had a soul and it was crying out: What am I here for, what do I really want?

I discovered I was a human being, not a human doing.

How do I want to be and to feel? I had no idea!

This was the beginning for me. I saw I needed to be in a very different race to really win in the game of life. I also saw I need help to train for this other way of living life.

I found out about life coaching. I started to work with a coach and for the last 4 years I've had incredible results. I was able to identify my core values; I was able to look at the whole picture of myself not just the one-dimensional character that I had produced, that had blindly run that other race. I saw many of my core beliefs were based on old assumptions that I had never tested for truth.

This helped me identify what really matters most to me. I learned that I'm no longer willing to live out of integrity with those core values. I had to learn how to use my own inner guidance system.

I learned:

What feels good is in alignment with my core values; and what does not is not.

Sounds simple! Simple yes, but not necessarily easy.

I had a powerful struggle learning to override the beliefs I held that blocked my way to real contentment. I also had to struggle to believe that what I really wanted and desired, was possible.

I did the hard work.

Today my life is filled with so much joy, fulfillment, freedom, balance, calmness and connection.

I am happy.

Five years ago if you had asked me: "What's lacking in your life?" I'd never even guessed that joy, fulfillment, freedom, balance, calmness and connection were the things I was missing. That these were what most mattered to me.

Now when I move ahead toward a business or personal goal I have clarity behind my actions. I understand my real purpose for taking these actions. I am in alignment with what matters most to me. The difference has been monumental.

That is truly winning the game: When you learn what matters most to you.

Compromise - From Marriage to the Workplace

Description:

Compromise your way to success with advice from by Kirsty Dunphey one of Australia's most prominent young achievers and public speakers.

Kirsty Dunphey

As a newlywed I've been asked so many questions lately relating to the wedding. I was asked a rather interesting and unique one recently though and it was "What is true love, how do you know when it's right?"

Not professing to be an expert on the topic I could only answer from the heart and say what came to mind... that was: "True love is that my husband gave me, for my wedding present, the box set of Sex and the City DVDs even though he despises the show." Perhaps if you asked him what true love was he may tell you that it's the fact that I only watch them when he's out of the house so as not to torment him!

It's a silly answer of course, but it does go towards shining some light on what I think makes most relationships work - whether they be personal, business or otherwise and that is compromise.

In real estate so many people think the deciding factor in selling or buying a property is what price you want to offer. In many cases however, extending or bringing forward settlement, including a fridge, repainting a fence may be what gets the deal across the line - but only if the agent is a skilled compromiser which means they're a skilled negotiator who can find the win-win for both clients.

As an employer I've had many discussions with people regarding pay structure, when I was an employee however if I wanted a pay rise I went to my boss with a well thought out plan. The plan showed him how a) he could save money by paying me more or b) how I could make the company more money to compensate for my pay rise. I searched for the win-win - I sold my position and I rarely walked out without the result I was after because I could show my boss how it benefited him.

"Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it."
Michael Jordan

How can you use compromise more to your advantage in day to day life? With your kids, if you know that next week you're not going to spend a lot of time at home because of work can you let them know in advance and make the compromise with them that if they can deal with that ok that you'll all go out to dinner - their choice of restaurant on Saturday night. Just a suggestion - I hope you have fun finding your own!

Two Views of Social Responsibility

Content:

Government regulation and public awareness are external forces that have increased the social responsibility of business. But business decisions are made within the company. Two contrasting philosophies, or models, define the range of management attitudes toward social responsibility; the economic and the socioeconomic model.

According to the traditional concept of business, a firm exists to produce quality goods and services, earn a reasonable profit and provide jobs. In line with this concept, the economic model of social responsibility holds that society will benefit more when business is left alone to produce and market profitable products that society needs. To the manager who adopts this traditional attitude, social responsibility is someone else's job. After all, stockholders invest in a corporation to earn a return on their investment, not because the firm is socially responsible and the firm is legally obligated to act in the economic interest of its stockholders.

In contrast, some managers believe they have the responsibility not only to stockholders, but also to customers, employees, suppliers, and the general public. This broader view is referred to as the socioeconomic model of social responsibility. It places emphasis not only on profits but also on the impact of business decisions on society. Recently, increasing numbers of managers and firms have adopted the socioeconomic model and they have done so for at least three reasons. First, a business is dominated by the corporate form of ownership and the corporation is a creation of society. Second, many firms are beginning to take pride in their social responsibility records. Third, many business people believe it is in their best interest to take the initiative in this area, prior to their competitors.

The merits of the economic and the socioeconomic models have been debated for years by business owners, managers, customers, and government officials. Each side seems to have four major arguments to reinforce its viewpoint. Proponents of the socioeconomic model maintain that a business must be more than simply seek profits to support their position and they offer that businesses cannot ignore social issues because a business is a part of our society. Moreover, a business has the technical, financial, and managerial resources that are needed to tackle today's complex social issues. Additionally, by helping resolve social issues, business can create a more stable environment for long-term profitability. Finally, proponents of socially responsible decision making practices argue that these types of tactics can prevent increased government intervention, which would force businesses to do what they fail to do voluntarily. All these arguments are based on the assumption that a business has a responsibility not only to stockholders but also to customers, employees, suppliers and the general public.

Opponents of the socioeconomic model argue that a business should do what it does best; earn a profit by manufacturing and marketing products that people want. Those who support their position argue that business managers are primarily responsible to stockholders, so management must be concerned with providing a return on owners' investment. Furthermore, corporate time, money and talent should be used to maximize profits, not to solve society's problems. Also, social problems affect society in general, so individual businesses should not be expected to sole these problems. In addition, social issues are the responsibility of government officials who are elected for that purpose and who are accountable to the voters for their decision. These arguments are obviously based on the assumption that the primary objective of business is to earn profits, whereas government and social institutions should deal with social problems.

Avoid These Mistakes to Hasten Your Online Success

Description:

Save yourself time, money and headaches by knowing these simple skills before you open the doors for your online business

Content:

When commencing your home based business online, or anywhere else, there are common, precious time wasting mistakes that can be avoided.

Here are some of these mistakes so you will not have to learn by doing them. This will hasten your online learning curve.

The first time tested tip on what not to do when starting your home based business on the Internet is to concentrate not only on the product or service you are delivering but the management aspects of your business as well. For example below, say you worked for someone else as a Web site designer.

You do a great job of designing a number of laudable sites and eventually decide to go out on your own and start a home based graphic design on the Internet. At this time you must know more than just how to design the sites.

You must also know how to choose a good keyword business name. Next you need to write the content for the site or hire out someone else to do it, to advertise your service, set up and manage your accounting functions, perhaps even hire employees in time.

You must know how to set up your home office, so it and your family can work with you smoothly. Also, how to manage the customer service and vendor contacts including payments and complaints.

While none of these things have a lot to do with designing a great Web site they all are crucial to your online success in starting a home based business on the Internet. These little things complete a stage.

Many people make the mistake, when they start a home based business online, of taking on the wrong business partner. They do this either to gain additional finances or to increase and round out the business expertise needed to make it run well.

Some business partners are friends, former colleagues or family members. This is fine but they must be quality and have specific critical roles they and you comfortably agree to.

Most of the time these partnerships crash and burn, without the above. This brings about the additional disadvantage of ruined personal relationships as well.

Before taking on a partner to help start a home based business on the Internet consider other financial resources and the use of consultants. You will truthfully miss your friends and relatives when you are in business, at this time, but you will keep their love and friendship and grow in your business.

Sometimes starting a home based business online does not have to mean starting from scratch. Sometimes it should actually not mean that. If you have not done your market research you may find out that the market will not support your products and services.

The product may be workable but no one will want it or it may not be workable, may not have a large enough market to support your efforts and business, or the market might be saturated.

There are times when the best start is buying into a proven business. That is buying out someone else who has made a success, or has something that can be made into a success in a reasonable amount of time. Reasons for this are caused by retirement, illness or they need to sell their proven and lucrative enterprise, big or small.

Some entrepreneurs start a home based Internet business but dream small dreams. Lots of potential may be there but they do not know how to move up to the next step and just want to quit and get rid of it.

They stop at the point where they are making a decent wage instead of aiming for the entrepreneur stars. You may find nice businesses like this on eBay. It is some work to find them but the payoff can be high for you with a pre started business with a unique concept.

While that may be a sound way to start it cannot generally continue or you will always be fighting a battle to make a living wage and may be forced to cut quality corners, reduce advertising and key marketing tactics to turn some sort of meager profit. One of the premier ways to compete on the Web is to offer great customer service, to go beyond anonymity to warm relationships with your customers.

Many start a home based Internet business by undercutting those that are already out on the Web with similar products. Or, they may be able to take it a step further by improving it in a different direction without even having to purchase another business.

Many businesses on the internet, amazingly, have awful service that is frequently given grudgingly. If you start a home based business, on the Internet, treat your customer as if she or he is the only one that counts.

Many successful Japanese businesses have a saying that tells it all. The customer is God! Granted this is carried away but I think you can understand the critical point made here.

You will have repeat business and be well on your way to entrepreneurial success if you take your customer by the hand and carefully show them how your product works for them.

The Business of Helping Others to Get Online Tasks Done

Description:

Many business start up gals and guys start up well and then hit walls that you can help them open the door and go through if you have the will and right skills

Content:

There are many thousands of new entrepreneurs wanting to give up their full time jobs to explore their personal Internet home business dream.

A logical, potentially successful Internet home based business idea, may be to help them get their online business tasks and needed services done.

What I am suggesting is starting a business support service that helps entrepreneurs take their Internet home based business idea to the next level.

You can offer many services including transcription, desktop publishing, word processing, writing, editing, ghostwriting, designing spreadsheets, database management, accounts payable, bookkeeping, resume services, photocopying and faxing, notarizing.

Web research and Web page design and oversight and many different consulting services are probably the highest in demand. These are skills new web site entrepreneurs are not usually skilled in and need.

Antiquated secretarial services of years past involved typing, answering the phone and taking dictation by shorthand using tools that are almost ready for museums now. As you know today, the services are far more complex.

Business support services have become a top notch Internet home business concept as the complexities and technology involved in serving these growing small businesses lead to fewer and fewer adequately trained full time employees.

Small business employers, especially home based ones, typically do not need or want the headaches of full time employees. Also, they do not want to involve themselves in the complexities of employment law and taxation regulations and taking on another partner in the form of the government with all of this.

Technical business support service is an excellent Internet home based business idea because it is needed and in much demand by these start up business owners. They are just learning their way around the proprietorship and Internet business worlds and need help jumping over these fences to get to the next step in their businesses.

While, amazingly, typing and dictation are still important functions in the working world, other new services have evolved as equally or probably more important ones.

Offering business and technical support as an Internet home based venture should include desktop publishing, Web research and skills with spreadsheet software such as Excel.

While you can, and maybe should, specialize as part of your business support services the greater the proficiency you have in the various office software products and equipment the better chance you will have of landing new and repeat clients. Knowing how to do jobs like setting up web sites and building them are and always will be needed skills for talented marketers who are lacking in programming skills and in need of them for their businesses.

There are at least two important factors in getting your Internet home based business idea off the ground. The first is to prepare yourself by training in the equipment and applications you will offer.

The second is to find your potential clients. That is good old fashioned marketing skills, especially, target marketing.

Since your business dream is to support others who have their own Internet business ideas your leads might be easy to find. In fact, they may be hanging out at the same places you do. For example, your local community college business start up classes, the local Small Business Development Center, the Chamber of Commerce meetings and perhaps even Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) seminars or meetings.

There are many opportunities here to subtly let others know you are willing to support their new business start up and kick off your own business as well.

Have some business cards printed up by Vista Print dot com telling exactly what you do and pass them out, trade them and leave them everywhere. This will let your leads seek you out and get you started on the road to a second income.

Secrets of Network Marketing Revealed

Description:

Learn how the top network marketers recruit thousands of new sign ups.

Content:

Would that help your network marketing business? I think so, don't you?

First things first:

Who is your target Market?

That's right, business builders.

People who already buy or use your product or service, or one just like it (ie Network Marketers, or future existing customer base)

People looking to start a home based business (Biz opportunity seekers)

People actively seeking info about your specific opportunity (looking for successful team, system, etc)

Product Customers

People who already are buying or using a related product or service

People with a problem who are looking for a solution

People looking for your specific product by name

Bring People into Your Pipeline..Your Marketing System

Learn how to Build your core asset – Multiple Lists that includes all that do NOT buy or sign up immediately.. this is 90% of all 1st time visits to your ads..do not waste these leads

Start to Advertise to one (1) of the target markets above, first, then you can grow later (Free or Paid)

Capture Name and Email of visitors to your ad. (Your Own Capture Page is Mandatory)

Educate, and build a relationship (Need an Autoresponder to automate, and send broadcast Emails)

Retail a product or service related to your target niche (Test low cost items, info products to build trust)

Backend/MLM Promo (Upgrade size of sale, course, MLM product, auto ship etc)

Residual Income (This is the extra cash, your primary business opportunity)

Trying to email individually will bury you the more successful you get. Trying to start out recruiting to your MLM directly will likely frustrate you, and probably NOT be profitable for a long time.

You will notice I never mentioned advertising your business directly. This is all about marketing your core asset..YOU.

You will waste your time and money sending traffic directly to your company provided website.. You might get an accidental customer or request for info, but you have no idea who actually goes to the site, or how many, well you get the idea, right..

Think of your business as "YOU, Inc", with your MLM as just a single part of "YOU, Inc"

MYTH: You have to be a computer expert. Not so, there are some basic skills but they are all learnable. Can you type, and use a word editor? If so, there are lots of free tools to get you started.

Just like you, when I started out 2 years ago trying to do exactly what my MLM uplines taught me. I was a good student, calling my warm market, making a list of everybody I know, pounding the phones with lists, buying leads, genealogy lists, attending meetings, conventions, etc etc.

But in my heart I knew I wanted to build my business on line with today's technology, and most if not all, MLM companies do NOT teach how to do that.

I recently discovered a "fully funded sponsoring franchise system" that allows me to get all of my advertising cost paid for by using a couple affiliate programs to fund my marketing campaign. I now am able to drive thousands of people to my website every week and don't spend a dime! This has been a secret that was closely guarded by many internet marketing gurus.

I hope this helps you in your thinking about your MLM (Network MARKETING).

Yours in Success,

Profiting More from Creative Ways to Use Your Old Products, Even the Duds

Description:

Example of how to find new and more profitable ways to sell existing products, helping peoples creative juices to flow

Content:

I read the other day about a European company that created a technology for stores for example in a mall to keep teens from hanging out in front of their businesses or loitering.

It's a device that makes a high-pitched frequency that teens can clearly hear yet which most adults can't, because people typically lose the top and low end of the hearing range as they age.

Teens hear the noise and it's annoying so they don't stay long in the stores. Adults don't hear the noise so it doesn't bother them and they shop "in peace". That's the theory, anyway, and it didn't catch on or wasn't a big enough market for its developers to become rich.

Instead, though, someone took that basic premise and turned it around, finding a market using the "strengths" of the technology in reverse.

On the one hand the high-pitch sound only the teens can hear was a nuisance to them in stores, yet could there be an advantage to this technology that would allow only teens to hear something that adults cannot?

That kind of "how can we turn this around and find another application for this" question I'd encourage you to ask constantly to expand your mind, open you up to greater resources and huge profits.

How did the company answer that question? Their technology is being used in cell phones, as the ring tone.

Think about it. 16-year-old in English class. Blue Tooth ear bud in ear. Cell phone rings. Teen reaches down and casually touches phone to answer it, softly whispering into mic probably concealed behind her hair on the ear bud.

Teacher clueless the conversation even happened.

Student heard nothing from the lecture and didn't learn anything, and probably distracted or amused other students. Teacher oblivious.

Yet you can imagine how popular that feature would be to the youth market, and I could see the first person to use it at school being a trend-setter and it spreading fast throughout the youth market…

Making a fortune for this technology company that initially had wanted to keep kids away, and potentially limiting a lot of educational successes.

(I'm not saying I support the technology and I can see schools banning that ring tone if they can find a way to enforce it with adults not generally even hearing it.)

What I am saying is I respect the creativity in taking "X" that was a dud, let's say, and using it's unique qualities in another way to have potentially a huge impact.

Perhaps a better example that illustrates this is another technology that's been around a long time that's also coming to cell phones.

GPS – Global Positioning System.

Initially GPS satellites were launched by the military to monitor troop movements and assist the government with surveillance.

Then in the 1980s the government allowed private companies to start offering GPS tracking equipment and today its standard on many cars as a way to find the nearest pizza place or the quickest way to Grandma's house in rush hour traffic.

It's also the latest mobile phone feature, where you can get audible directions based on where you're at. Old technology, used creatively to help people find what they're looking for and fill a need.

And it looks like the cell phone companies are going to charge extra for this service, making it a direct profit center for them.

However, I envision a time when this also becomes a security issue, where parents buy their children cell phones for the sense of security knowing the parents can always find their children through tracking the phone.

You see how that's an example of a possible way to modify an existing technology that could become very profitable.

I suggest you take a look at the various challenges you have and ask yourself what tools can you use differently to resolve them, and you could find yourself with a multi-million-dollar idea, as well as a mind stretched far beyond its current boundaries and perceived limitations.

Autopilot MLM

The point in which your business is running on its own with minimal interaction from you. Is it possible? That depends. What kind of a business do you want? Do you want to surround yourself with winners? or Do you just want to just cash the checks? Either way is fine, as long as you understand the big picture.

I have been in the Multi-level/Network Marketing industry for many years. I have had some pretty large success and some equally large disappointment. I will be the first to take responsibility for the disappointments, but I will also take credit for the success. I know that when I decided to ignore what was right in front of me and expect the business to run by itself, I got exactly what I put into it; not much! When I decided to pay attention, not only to what I was putting into the business, but also the people I was attracting, I received much more than I could have hoped for.

Here is the key: Daily attention is required at first and then it begins to grow on its own. The business is a family. When the child is born, it takes much attention. Feeding it, nurturing it, teaching it. As it grows, it starts to take on a personality of its own with input and guidance. The child becomes aware and learns new things on its own. At some point in time, the child is now an adult and able to replicate the process. Hopefully, we have instilled my passion and desire into the child so that it is going in the same direction as us. Now, imagine if you had 2 children, 4, or 8 and they all had the same drive and values as you. Pretty soon you are a great grand-parent, helping to guide and teach your great-grandchildren what you know and have experienced. Your input is still valuable and necessary, but not nearly as often.

Now a normal family could take 18+ years to start developing. Your business could take much, much less time. Personally, I have seen it as short as one day. It all depends on YOU and your passion for what you are doing. Always remember that your child/business requires care and feeding at first but ultimately, it will take care of you. Teach it well and pay attention to its needs. And as always, HAVE FUN!

The Perfect Home Based Business!

Are you looking for a Business you can Work at Home? Did you know that a Work at Home Business is the dream of millions of Americans, and millions more world wide? It is estimated that by 2010, over 68% of us will have some kind of Home Business to help supplement our income.

Are you looking for a Business you can Work at Home? Did you know that a Work at Home Business is the dream of millions of Americans, and millions more world wide? It is estimated that by 2010, over 68% of us will have some kind of Home Business to help supplement our income. Plus, numerous surveys show that a Business of your own is still the #1 way for the average person to achieve financial freedom and independence.

According to Meg Whitman, 400,000 people are making a living from eBay. And, recently eBay reported $14.87 billion in annual merchandise sales with over 100 million members. With numbers like these shouldn't you be looking at eBay as your Home Based Business?

Since then eBay has flourished into an auction site that lends itself perfectly to the Home Based Business. Why? Mainly because you can sell just about anything on eBay. Plus, operating an eBay Auction Business does not require you to have any extensive business knowledge or any elaborate computer skills. Finding items to sell on your auctions is easy as well. You can start by selling all of those unwanted items you have just lying around the house. From there some people cruise flea markets, swap meets, and second hand stores for more items to sell on eBay. And even more use Dropshippers. Using Dropshippers is a smart way to get your eBay Home Business up and running because you don't have to invest in costly inventory, store the inventory, or package and ship that inventory. Your Dropship supplier will do all of that for you. It doesn't get any easier then that!

So if you're looking for a Home Based Business, have a look at eBay. It is the largest and most exciting auction service on the Internet enabling trades on a local, national and international bases. With more than 3 million auctions running at any given time, and many millions of users, if you have something to sell you'll probably find a buyer for it on eBay.

Not everyone agrees there is a housing bubble which will have an impact on the entire economy, but how about one that has an impact on you? If your home was devalued, even temporarily, do you have the cash flow to sustain your credit or allow you to sell your home without getting into debt? In the US today, many people live in homes which have positioned them in a loosing financial situation. How can a home business improve your financial position and protect you from the potential effects of a housing bubble?

First, many people have W-2 income as their only source of income. While a job is certainly a great way to trade your time for a consistent flow of money, it also provides you with the fewest tax advantages which means you end up paying more to Uncle Sam than those who also run a home business on the side. For example, many CPAs and tax planning specialists can show you how to deduct part of your home expenses, your cell phone bill and even costs to maintain and operate your vehicle, legally, if you are able to document that you actively work on your home business each day. This can turn expenses you are already paying for, into tax deductions. That's money in your pocket! Money saved can be reinvested into growing your business or applied to paying off your mortgage more quickly.

Protect yourself and protect your hard earned home equity by improving your cash flow and avoid running close to the edge of the value of your home compared to the debt owed in your mortgage and any home equity loans. Be sure you consult with a tax professional and a CPA to properly plan the tax benefits you can receive from having a home business. Apply those savings to building your savings and also to paying down your mortgage as quickly as possible. The more equity to have in your home, the more insulated you are from possible effects of the housing bubble and also from the effects of personal and professional emergencies.

With any business you might be in your going to have to have time. Thats why its very important to set up a time schedule for your new work at home business you are starting. Nobody wants to work around the clock. So make it easy on yourself and pick out a few hours of the day where you will lock your door, and do nothing but work on your at home business for a few hours.
