First of all, let's look at what Network Marketing (MLM) really is. Network Marketing is a very viable way to build a business. The concept is simple, you get people, they get people...etc. The marketing model is great way to build a long term sustainable income for you and your loved ones.

The problem, as I'm sure you'll agree, is the traditional method of recruiting that you've been taught or have heard about. Everyone has an opinion about Network Marketing and most opinions are based on the outdated method of recruiting. You bug your friends and family to watch a DVD, listen to a tape, read a magazine, get on a 3 way call, or go to a meeting. Sound familiar? The problem here is that NOBODY wants to do this anymore!

The key lies in HOW you market your opportunity. And using established Internet marketing methods is how you do that.

To put it simply, you market your opportunity on the Internet, not face to face.

First of all you need to find a company that has great products and great training to match. It needs to have a truly easy and duplicatable Internet marketing system that your downlines can use.

These companies are out there, you just have to find them. Let's face it, if you can recruit like crazy on the Internet but your downline cannot duplicate what you do, then your organization and income will not grow. Then you'll be back where you started, cursing MLM as a scam because you didn't make any money with it.

Many famous authors (millionires) are now writing articles about the advantages of the Network Marketing model and some go as far as to say that if they lost their fortunes, they would use the Network Marketing model to rebuild. What does that tell you?

The most effective way to make a living with MLM is to find the right company and use tried and true Internet marketing principles to market the opportunity. This method flat out WORKS and you don't have to bug and cajole anyone to go to meetings or do 3 way calls. Your business will grow and flourish and you'll be smiling all the way to the bank!

This is quite understandable, and the truth is that most people will struggle to get pages to rank well in the major search engines…but there is hope, and by following a few simple guidelines you can start to have pages on the first page of the results of Yahoo and Google over time.

Here's a question I often receive – I just read an article explaining all about using keywords in your URL, Title Tags and in the 'anchor text' of incoming links to our site. If everyone is doing this, how are we supposed to get our sites ranking well when we have such stiff competition?

My Answer?

Not everyone is doing this correctly and besides it doesn't really matter if they are. In the not too distant future, pure search engine focused SEO like these articles discuss is doomed and yet many of the people in the industry either don't get it or are hoping it doesn't happen.

Here's why…

While factors such as correctly formatted title tags and descriptions are important, the 'real' thing to focus on is creating unique, valuable content that adds value to the web and contains your own personal 'voice' or style and personality.

A perfectly SEO'ed site that contains boring, generic content (or simply rehashed or re-written PLR content purchased from a membership site somewhere) which is designed only with SE's in mind has no chance against a well written site which contains the author's own personal style, friendly writing and great content when a HUMAN visitor comes along.

Search engines track lots of things including length of each visitor's stay and when people find a site they love, they tend to hang around. When they arrive at a site that's obviously aimed at SE's and simply designed to get Adsense clicks or funnel people to an affiliate program, they don't.

Sometimes they'll click on an ad to get away from the site, but they never come back and wouldn't think of subscribing to a newsletter there – and building a list of subscribers is an important part of building your online business. The bottom line is what's the point of doing perfect SEO, getting incoming links with the right anchor text, etc., and then not giving your visitors what they are looking for when they arrive?

Most pure SEO guys just don't get this, and that is why you can build a site that outranks them when we do the correct SEO stuff AND create unique, valuable content that helps and entertains your visitors. And fortunately for us little guys, many of the SEO pros will never get it, so we have nothing to fear from most of the 'gurus'...

Bottom line?

Build unique content, develop your own 'voice', set up your pages correctly using good SEO fundamentals, build lots of pages around easy-to-win keywords to start with, and you will not only compete in your niche, you'll ultimately be in a position to dominate segments of your market as your website traffic grows and grows.

Now, about those replicated sites that all look like the one you clicked on to get this whole ball rolling only to find out there are tons of others out there just like it. You may be thinking why put up another one just like it and what will this do for you. If you thought of that, then you are well on your way to success. You do not want a site like all the others. You want to put your own personality into it and make it your own because what you are really selling or promoting is yourself.

Offering value to the visitor and gaining their trust is what it is all about. With this in mind, you will use the program you choose to market yourself online. It should also teach you and permit you to change your web site to your liking, add pages and make it your own. There should also be an online forum where you can learn and ask questions of the more experienced members who have their own work at home business.

The keyword phrase 'big bertha divers' refines the search further, but it still isn't specific enough for most people to make a buying decision. They are still often in 'research' mode at this stage.

These are the phrases you want to build your website's tier three or four pages around. These are the 'money' pages where people will click through to your merchant or sales site after they have been PRE-sold on the benefits of buying the Big Bertha titanium 454 driver.

By having pages related to all the different golf drivers available you will gradually rank well for some keywords, then more of them over time. Then your good rankings for these easy-to-rank-for pages will start to see your harder-to-rank-well-for keyword focused pages ranking well too.

Put great PRE selling copy on your pages, a picture of the product on the page if possible that is also a hyperlink to the specific product on your merchant's website or order page, and you're set. Then do it for all of the products in your merchant's range that you want to promote.

You may want to purchase a product that will teach you, but even this is not necessarily going to make your business.

You have to make your business work. You have to invest your time in doing so. You may also need to invest a little money to earn money. But, the rewards from working your own business can be amazing. Thousands of people get started every day at a new online venture. Most of them fail not because the business will not work, but because they do not know what to do, don't put their best foot forward and they simply do not step into it with the best attitude. The best attitude is that of keenness and enthusiasm to "have a go" and put some realistic time and effort into making money. In order to avoid home business scams all you need to do is use the Internet to do some very thorough research on the opportunity presented to you. This does not mean mere reading of testimonials and other personal accounts that cannot be corroborated. Look for third party reviews from recognized bodies that evaluate home businesses. There are many such third party evaluators as well as quite a few websites that deal exclusively with scam business opportunities. Read over everything before you make a final choice so that you know you made the right choice.

You also want to review the business plan of each organization as well as any initial investment or monetary requirements. For example, about eight years ago a network marketing organization online required you to purchase at least $50 in products each month in order to be eligible for any bonuses. They built your downline for you, but in order to be considered active, all you had to spend was $50 a month.

It was a huge multi-level marketing group, that might have been fine, but it was a limited product line with health and dietary products, so it would be difficult for the average person to spend that kind of money every month. These are, however, the kind of things of which you must be aware as you conduct your research and choose a network marketing organization with which to work.

Anyway, I finally got sick of what was being offered. I decided I'd look through the all of the "get rich quick" programs I could find and see if there were any that were actually legitimate. I found that there were owners selling their programs for well over $100, but the information in them could be found almost anywhere online for free. Additionally, they all contained out-of-date information, had no e-mail support, no money back guarantees, and broken links in the downloads section. In conclusion, almost all of the programs I found were completely useless. The owners knew it, but they couldn't care less about their customers since they didn't offer refund policies! Amazingly, while looking through all of the programs, I actually did find a few legitimate programs. They were run by ordinary people like you and me, and they had found some great methods of making money from their home by doing very little work. I spent some time working with those programs, and my income is now ten times what it used to be. These programs provided a large amount of great information on how to make extra money on your computer doing very little work. Numerous customers had provided great feedback and reviews for their products. Many of them have started to make money just days after buying! My Biggest Online Marketing Mistake

I have made many mistakes in Internet Marketing over the last 9 years but one really stands out as it hurts a lot! Most marketing experts say the #1 activity anyone interested in building a profitable online business should do is build a list. They say if they were to lose everything but one thing this is what they would keep. Why? Because if done right, a responsive list of newsletter subscribers and readers will be almost like growing money on trees. At least, that is what they say.

You see my story is a little different.

After many years I managed to build an ezine subscriber base to 25,000+. However, the big mistakes or mistakes I made were two fold...

1. Using only single opt in
2. Offering freebies to entice their subscription

Many so-called 'gurus' will tell you that is the way to build your ezine or lists fast.

But what you get are people who subscribed for only the freebie and had no intention on spending any money with you or anyone else. What that means is a very un-responsive list. No response to your ads in your ezine...no money in your pocket.

That of course, is the reason you started your newsletter right? To make money! Yes, some newsletters are only published with the intent of imparting information to its subscribers. But 90% of the ezines are publishing to add to the bottom line.

But my list of 25,000 was not buying my offers. They were good offers and would be of value to anyone interested in making money online. But the response was usually .05% or less!

So, what I did was bite the bullet and basically deleted the whole subscriber list! I offered a different list to those that wanted to stay subscribed (my ezine was good and I put a lot of time and effort into it).

But of the 25,000 subscribers I only received a few hundred that took the time to click on the new link and verify their email address.

Boy, did that hurt! Now I use nothing but double opt in and no freebies! Now the pop ups or web forms to sign up has enough of inducements to attract a steady flow of new and eager to spend money on valuable tools and resources.

One side note: I do offer incentives on Amazing Marketing Videos as this is not an ezine or newsletter but a series of hot, valuable business building videos and David Valliere's excellent 7 week lesson, "How To Make Money Online". Depending on your web sites purpose you can offer freebies and still profit.

Don't make the same mistake, get a good autoresponder with double opt in, which requires the subscriber to verify their email. Make a loud point of telling them in your thank you page to not use free email accounts...Yahoo, Hotmail etc. as they aggressively filter out non-spam emails. Don't offer a freebie or any other kind of enticement except a newsletter that will deliver what you promise.
